Antipasto Recipe A Family Favorite
By marellen
Easy and Tasty
I grew up in a very Italian household and remember my Nona and Father making the best ever foods. I would like to share one of my families recipes called, Antipasto. This is a different take on the more traditional Antipasto version of meats, cheeses, olives and peppers. This dish is tangy and rich.
Antipasto, means "before the meal" and is the traditional first course of a formal Italian meal. This recipe can also be served as an appetizer or with dinner and is very versatile. We usually prepare this traditionally dish around the Holidays.
Also, since this recipe makes a considerable amount it would make wonderful Christmas gift, housewarming or birthday gift too. Find yourself a nice jar, dress up the lid, add your Antipasto and a label with the date you made it and presto….a gift anyone would enjoy. This will keep for at least two weeks in the refrigerator and can also be frozen. Anyone would be pleased to receive this for any special event.
Recipe:
Antipasto
½ Cup salad or olive oil
2 Cups Chili sauce
1 Cup cocktail sauce
2 gloves of garlic crushed
1 can green olives drained
1 can black olives drained
1 8oz. Cup pearl or cocktail onions
2 32oz. Jars Gardinera drained
1 8oz. Can whole mushrooms drained
1 bottle of Hearts of Artichokes with oil
1 can of tuna 12 1/2oz.
To Prepare:
In a big pot simmer first four ingredients 3 minutes
Add next six ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes
Add the tuna
Cool and refrigerate in covered container
Will keep for 2 weeks
It can’t get any easier than that. I had a friend that made this recently and shared this with her sister too. They both loved it and plan on making it again.

I love tuna, this i would make. I don't like olives but they could be left out. Thank you.
Hi Ruby........you could leave the olives out and add more of the other ingredients. I think you will like this. The tuna really sets it off. Thanks for coming by.
A very healthy recipe, among others I'd like to mention the benefits of Chili active constituent capsaicin, the one responsible for its spicy taste and also a well known anticancer agent.
Capsaicin is also found in Aloe vera, Euphorbia tirucalli, and Tabebuia impetiginosa, and in several studies it was able to induce a significant growth arrest and apoptosis in human breast cancer and leukemia cancer cells in vitro.
Welcome Herb..Thanks for you very informative comment. I appreciate you stopping by. Have a nice day.
